NGD - G&L Tribute ASAT Special

Post by mkt3000 »

It showed up on the local facebook group. The price was right, and the seller was willing to meet me halfway so I could check it out.

Great neck, a bit thinner than my S500. It feels solid and is loud as hell unplugged - just like my other G&L. It needs new strings and a cleanup, which I'll take care of during the week. So far I'm happy.

Congrats! I wonder if Leo worked on that one?

Neat. How is it compared to a tele?

Fat twang, flat neck. I played it last night for one song, and that's the best way to describe it. It's like a Tele made for Gibson players. The pickups fall between a P90 and a Tele Pickup, and take distortion quite happily.

I'm thinking about putting a 4 way switch on it if I decide to keep it.

They're great guitars. IMO. if they're new and at the same price point, they're better value than USA Fenders - used, you can forget it, they're absolute steals. The Tribute Series, which is this, are comparable to upper end MIM Fenders, but you can get them used for cheaper than some Squiers.

Nope :( The Leo era ones are too expensive for me. I'd absolutely love a Leo era SC2 (or just an SC2 really).

Keep an eye out for a used one. Sadly, there isn't a Tribute SC-2, but there is a Tribute Fallout, which is based on the SC-2. I've been keeping my eyes open for a used one since they announced them.
