It's really that awkward pickguard that highlights, like a one fret distance?
Starcaster Reissue, Coronado Reissue, and bass versions!

Maybe the photographers only had the one example.Punkacc9 wrote:Chris Fleming wrote:Looks like there's a crack in the pickup surround on the starcaster pics
Lol wow. That really shows the quality of the new ones
Seriously though, how did they not notice that?
A piece of cracked plastic on one of the early production models isn't indicative of overall quality. You really are dedicated to slashing these guitars a few new arseholes which seems strange considering you like the older ones.

Congratulations! Your Punkacc9 evolved into Awstin.

That's the way it was when I bought it. Not sure why you would turn it around. I figured it out a couple of days after buying it and swapped it around when I was fixing the loose strap button.stewart wrote:taylornutt wrote:my neck pickup surround is the wrong way round lol

Possibly the worst thing about Fender's staunch commitment to the black, CAR, sunburst triple whammy is that I'm stupid enough to hope for something else every time. It's like how I've been hoping for another good Weezer album for how many releases now? Never gonna happen. LPB Coronado would have been nice.
That said, black Starcaster does indeed look ace.

I really like these reissues a lot.
I'm not really sure what all the rabble is about as far as deviations from the originals, this was mostly a WTF move from Fender. No one saw it coming until images leaked. So I'd say that some spec changes aren't so bad to incorporate them into a more diverse product line in the hopes of actual longevity for these models. If they were spec-for-spec reissues they would only get applauded for being faithful to the original, it wouldn't score new fans of the model because the originals already exist and Fender has to bank on new found acceptance for these otherwise they won't last. This is a swing at the semi-hollow market that Fender only offered hollow versions of electric models to(mostly). This gives Fender a shot in the area with a newly invigorated, unique semi-hollow line. So let's wait til we get our hands on them before judging.
Idk maybe I'm going over board in defense of having new model rather than Strat/Tele variations and one vintage correct model for all the others. It wasn't that long ago when that was about all Fender/Squier was offering though, and it sucked. At least now I'm excited about what they are going to release. But seriously, to all the "it's not exactly like the original/or doesn't have my favorite change" crowds: just stop. Again not trying to come across aggressive; but at least we're getting something fresh and aesthetically diverse, something which is VERY recent for Fender to be doing in the US. So be grateful you buttlovers! FMIC is making cooler shit and it's awesome, go to ebay for vintage correct.

I do love how they just kind of appeared. 3 weeks from announcement to being able to buy one?
