I wasn't referring to the american special strats/teles(seems like common sense, considering we're in a thread about the american special offsets)
Why buy a castrated Jazzmaster/Mustang? If you don't want the switches and offbeat setup then what business do you have looking at an offset in the first place?
That's like buying a sports car and using it for monster trucking.
Not touchy, Relating something like this to someone wanting a guitar cause they're 'special' or a 'simpleton' is just silly... that's what my remark was about.
& the car analogy is poor too, it's not really like that either I'm afraid. More like shifting extra weight cause you want to go faster.
The shape is often appealing for many, but as said... some people don't want that extra clutter in their life. It's a clever move by Fender because they're breaking into the Gibson market here too, if you're a Gibson player but want to venture out into the Fender world, and don't want a Tele or Strat then this would be the perfect go between.
When I first saw the pics of that Mustang I got all excited because I thought it was a dark blue metallic finish. Still I find it intriguing in boring black.
Although the Indonesian and Chinese Mustangs are more interesting, not only the price but the finish options too.
But the American one is not too bad, about the same price as a Japanese one, a bit less actually. I don't really mind the hard tailpiece.

I reckon with that extra length of vibrating string behind the bridge, it's more Mustang than Duo. That part does colour the sound and lots of people lock the Mustang trem anyway.
Wish it came in other colors, but otherwise I really like it. I guess I'm a simpleton, but I like the Mustang body and Fender neck while simultaneously preferring a hardtail and HH configuration. If Gibson made anything with a comfortable neck for small hands (I see no real difference between 50s and 60s necks), I'd be all over it, but I'm not holding my breath. In the meantime, I guess I just don't see anything sacred about a shitty trem and a relatively weak-sounding single-coil.

You designed that tire? Wow, really, tell us more , maybe in the pub.
I was just kidding, you don't have to make a video.
Anyways, if you really want to, what I do is use the built-in camera from a laptop. The video is crap quality, but the sound can be good (which is really more important for something like this).
