Specific Pickup Question

Post by JamGuy »

hey all...

I was wondering if I could install a US strat pickup(middle) between two MIM strat pickups. Anyone tried this? I'm not so concerned with the mixing of magnet types, but rather the polarity of the pickups involved. I guess I can just wire it up and find out. My thinking is that I could add a bit more quack in the 2 & 4 positions with the spare part (the US pickup) I already have. Any thoughts? Cheers, JG.

And is this based on the fact it will work correctly or your sense of adventure? Either way I'm likely to give it a try. I think the Am. Std. middle pickup is right around 6 ohm (5.99... or something like that). I'm guessing the MIM stds. are in the 6s, or perhaps higher. It leads me to think they wouldn't be mismatched.
