i thought i'd struggle to find a jag that sounded as good until i played big al's '63, it urinated on mine from a great height.

i used to guffaw about pre CBS being better, but i'm now coming to the conclusion that it usually is.

Guitar about $1250 (about Â£800) for my Coronado II

Bass - Â£650 for this Guild B302

Both fairly high compared to anything else I've bought (I don't think any other guitar has gone over Â£500 and I paid about Â£200 for my other bass) but they were also pretty good deals for what they are.

Huh, some of these prices are lower than I would've expected. Mine was $1300 for this Mosrite, which I ended up selling for $1800. I kind of regret that, it was such a cool guitar...but after a while, I just didn't get on with the thin neck and tiny frets. Second to that would be $900 for an SG Standard, though I only got it at that price because GC had it listed wrong. It was supposed to have been $1200.

Â£450 for a sunburst Classic Player Jaguar; used but in perfect condition. Sold it for Â£500 just over a year later.

Have since bought a Squier VM Jag, dropped in some AVRI62 pups and a Staytrem bridge and much prefer it - and have money left over!

Â£800 - my Electrical custom was that much in 2006. His stuff is much more now, and the exchange rate less favourable. I paid about that for a '69 Jaguar and a little less for a pristine Hagstrom Viking I. Sadly I sold both when saving for our flat, but I'm keeping the Electrical guitar.

I noticed yesterday the going rate for a USA Standard Telecaster is Â£1050. Seems a bit steep, but they are excellent guitars.

A little over Â£2k for the 64 Jazzmaster, Â£700 odd for the 72 Mustang, everything else was sub Â£500. And they are the best two guitars I own.

I worry about vintage guitars that are too clean, it probably means they weren't the best example in the first place.

Â£750 seems to be the limit I've paid. That's how much all my guitars cost actually!

I played a Collings I35 last week that was just ridiculously perfect. But I'm not going to spend Â£4k on a guitar..... yet.

Â£1600 for my custom Les Paul by Seth Baccus. It was a lot of money but I enjoyed being involved in building a guitar completely to my specs, from neck profile, radius, fret size, inlays, pickups, controls etc...
