essential pedals
normally I'm a guitar to amp guy, aside from occasional use of a big muff or a chorus pedal. but I've been thinking about getting a pedalboard together.
so what would be some essential pedals to look into? big enclosures are a plus.
kinda interested in making crazy noises and shit with a jag and jazzy.

sonic stomp and tuner is the only thing i consider essential. I can make it without everything else but it won't be near as fun.
I have a great collection of non essential shit though. The ehx ravish sitar for one. The ehx talking pedal is another. If you want crazy sounds then run your rig stereo and have certain effects like delay etc on one amp on the left and then run another amp to the right with distortion and fuzz and you'll have an incredible sound. My friend has been setting up this way and it's amazing. He has a pog with delay and reverb and trem on the one side and it sounds like organs with these layers coming from there and then the other side is crushing so it sounds like multiple guitar and bass players and a organ and synth. It's wild.

It's a fairly personal thing I guess, but for me the only real ESSENTIALS are a tuner and some dirt of some variety. For noise making stuff, I've experimented with a lot of different effects, but I've found that I can make pretty much any noise I desire with a delay and a wah.
Basically, you need to buy a Dunlop Crybaby, a Boss DD3, a Marshall Drivemaster and a Behringer TU300. Then you can achieve the FREDDY V-C SIGNATURE HARD ROCK TOANS.

Ohnoho Chk Chk Boom, feedback looper for those crazy noises.
Earthquaker Hoof Fuzz, Green Russian Muff clone but with a mid scoop control added
Pigtronix Aria Disnortion, clean boost to fuzz gain sweep with a +/-12dB three band EQ stacks with other dirt pedals wonderfully and sounds great on its own
From there just find some delay, reverb, and modulation pedals that you like to round out your board. Also make sure you have at least one buffered pedal to maintain your signal level.

It's principle. I know it's fucking awesome. I don't like marshall even though i totally should. I have this argument with my buddy Julian at length. He also has one and he said that pedal is one of the only ones he has, out of many hundreds, that he wouldn't sell. He tells me that i make no sense being I have a love affair with mids and Marshall amps are great at the exact sound i like..he asks me all the time why i'm so stubborn about refusing to give a chance to anything with Marshall on it..I have no fucking idea. I'm fucking looney..obviously. I don't know. I'd rather use a old rat or a ds-1..I bet paul reed smith guitars sound fucking amazing and when i see them i want to smash them into the concrete and then throw up. I hate them a lot. It's me though. They've never wronged me but i have this prejudice against certain things..HA! there's no hope for me FreedyFreddy V-C wrote:I'm pretty certain the guitarist in Blacklisters uses a Shredmaster (i.e. you should reconsider your decision not to use it because LISTEN TO THESE TOANS):

My only real essential for awhile now has been a booster, though throughout every pedalboard I've ever rigged up I've always left the Poly Chorus on there just because it does so much (filter matrix for Shellac type sound, 5-6 different modulation sounds on the chorus/flange mode using the rate and width knobs and the sweep filter switch).
I have a tuner but it's not a pedal.

as for preference i used to go like this.
E.C. Thunder
boss od-1
Plane ticket plus
Ehx chorus
EHX bassballs
Ehx DMM
korg pitchblack tuner
and sometimes i would thro the sitar swami and square snakes in there as well.
i usually have 2 diff type of dirt pedals and then a boost, plus my tuner pedal as the standard
