I don't really get why anyone would need these.

unless you've got some sort of genetic condition that doesn't allow your skin to toughen up and resist the wear then this might be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. The company will go under fast

My science teacher freshman year of high school used to wear these to sort papers but my friend Havish kept yelling "finger condoms" until she just stopped wearing them to make things easier.

if you have a nickel allergy, if you have cuts, burns or blisters, or if you're new to playing and the pain is unbearable but you still want to play a lot. i also wonder if the added resistance could help build strength and dexterity

so a few reasons , but no point for your average guitarist

Iommi would have chopped the rest of his fingers off for these back in the 60s.

So they don't get any diseases when playing with their expensive vintage/custom shop man salmon.

I'm seriously considering a set, but only for my fucked index finger. I've been experimenting unsuccessfully with finger bandages etc to lend a little more structural support to take some of the impact off of my non existent bursars. I'll probably try the tough one out, or even slip the very end of a rubber thimble in it.

You may mock me, but you try having a severely deteriorated finger and knuckle when your main hobby is playing guitar! It's bad enough that I'm more than willing to give this a shot, if not for the reasons that they made them!

these won't help me. My fingers have been broken so many times and some go different ways...Not totally different ways but they don't all line up and it hurts if i play more than a little while. I'm sure that either my hand issues or my back would have ended my rock star career if i had one.

Came across this dude who wears a similar glove....had to find out why... interesting!

Unfortunately in 2009 I was diagnosed with a disease called Focal Dystonia. This disease is a neurological condition that affects a muscle or group of muscles in a part of the body and causes involuntary muscular contractions or twisting due to misfiring neurons in the brain. Unfortunately my hands were affected by this condition and by late 2009 I could barely play a major scale. I was then told by a top neurologist that I would have to retrain as my life as a performing musician was over.

As you can see… I’m still playing and performing! How…
I took a few months off and in that time researched many different methods of treatment. This took me all over europe seeing different doctors but unfortunately each different treatment seemed to make my condition worse rather than better. By chance one of the doctors mentioned a violinist who had the same condition but managed to play by wearing latex gloves. The gloves act as a sensory trick. Luckily, after I tried wearing latex gloves I could feel there was a definite change within my hands while playing, the problem was the latex would stick to the strings. I had seen Ettiene Mbappe (a great French bass player) wearing tight silk gloves while he played due to his acidic sweat rotting his strings so decided to give those a try.

Do I still have the condition?
Yes, I still suffer from Focal Dystonia on a day to day basis and unfortunately as yet there seems to be no cure for a lot of sufferers out there. But, I feel so lucky that I have found a way to keep playing even if the condition may worsen at anytime.
