Which Telecaster?

Plain ol' MIM Telecaster Standard. Now built to a very high standard! A lightly used one is the same price as a Squier CV (mine was Â£270). Fit and finish are superb, and it has the modern 6-saddle bridge with no sharp edges. The tuners are lovely. Altogether a really fuss-free Tele.

I'm midway painting the new body for my telecaster. Which is my ideal Telecaster.
It's gonna be a black tele custom with a b/w/b pickguard and bigsby.
The toggle switch allows a slimmer body, hopefully eliminating the forearm bashing that comes with the tele territory.
Hopefully, it should look a fair bit like this, when I get my act together.

The plan being, to build a versatile, usable guitar that retains that all important Telecaster bridge sound.
Incidentally, this is a bit of a 'triggers broom' guitar. 3 bodies and 2 necks, but same bridge pickup, so it's the same guitar. Right?

But really I would prob go for an American Special Tele if I was to think more about practicality all round ... like when your mother used to pick your shoes.

They can sound amazing, some of my favorite players played them, I don't like them as much as I tried to.

A bit like me with Jaguars love the look love the sound other folk coax out of them but I don't get on with them...

Just a standard for me, whether it be Squier, MIM or USA most of them do the business. Its just a basic design with a classic sound, not fussed with the extras like bigsbys, f holes, edge binding, humbuckers etc you get on other models.

Still true. Contour body, compound radius maple fretboard, bound top, it just played beautifully.

I was thinking about something close to this one. I seem to be developing a real affinity for mapple necks.

My fav tele I've ever played was robroe's old esquire he sold to the Brits & Fran & myself seemed to pass back & forth so many times. Love maple necks on teles, nothing fancy. Just mojo

if my memory is right, that brown tele turned into a twelve string

Mine and Mike's Baja

been using it for some queen covers as it'll do the brian may out of phase sound with that s1 switch. plus you can flip a switch and have instant crazy little called love solo.

Oh yeah, out of phase on a Tele is crucial. It sounds wonderful. I've got both of mine wired with 4-way switches, with the 3rd position out of phase.

it would be something approaching the baja but with contours, and maybe a jag trem, but that's moving away from what i think a "quintessential" tele would be
