supersonic pickguard?
Hello all, i just bought back my supersonic which has been modified for a middle pickup.
I would like to get a new guard for it,im thinking either a single/humbucker or SSH.
I had a look on ebay etc... but can't really find anyone that could make one.
Does anyone know a place that could make one? i live in Australia so id probly have to get one from overseas which is cool.
the other option is to buy a guard blank and make my own using the original as template, i have a router.
Has anyone made their own guard and is it hard to do?

Ill have to get some better router bits.
the only problem is ive only got a big hand held router and no room to route, i dont even have a work bench or anything.
I like the idea of having the router come up from the bottom.
im not sure how im going to route it properly without a bench,i literally have no where at home to work on my guitars.
Im going to try and make a template from my guard and modifiy it to how i want first, then ill go from there.
oh and get a pickguard blank

Cur,
Great pictorial tutorial! I was going to purchase a Jagmaster guard for my 2001 JgM from Jeannie pickguards(I know people had mixed experiences with him, but mine were all good) unfortunately the owner passed away in August, so now I'll have to start making my own.
Thanks!

I don't mind making them, but I only make them for my custom builds. And that's because I don't have any pickguards for mustangs, jags, supersonics or what have you laying around to make a template with.
I told robroe I would make him a custom pickguard for his kids guitar, but he has not given me a trace or template for it yet.

I saw somewhere online a guy put a pearl laminate onto squier jazzmaster guard and didnt want the rythm section so he just didnt cut it out after he put it on
it looked pretty decent and i pretty much just want a black guard.
So if i just put a thin laminate onto my guard and don't cut out the toggle switch hole and make the neck pickup cutout for a single that should work?
im just not sure how he glued it on

I make my own. Joey made me two of them - he has a template made from one of mine. The black on black one is one of his. The tort one that I'm not using was done by him, too. The problem is that the originals don't all line up / match. You really do have to make sure your particular holes line up.Noisy Cat wrote:Ask wadeaminute

I'll be making a mint one-piece guard for my new Fender PS Super-Sonic soon (shown mocked up with the tort guard Joey made me, and with an original Squier guard with a custom white control plate).

A Whole Bunch of Guitars. Some with sparkles. Some with Pearl. Some with racing stripes.
