Electrical Guitar Company/Travis Bean - Anyone? - Ordered!
Anyone ever played or owned one? I know king buzzo plays one, but I also noticed that one of the guitarists from thee oh sees plays one.
Saw one in the flesh in a guitar shop in Brooklyn, but the staff were kinda dicks, so I never asked to play it.
I think thye look the business

It's a big thread and the guys there are all very much into them. At the least it's worth skipping over the last 20 pages or so. Despite typically being custom orders they tend to hold they're resale value very well, too.

Shabba.
Pretty sure Timhulio has an Electrical (TB-500 type).
I don't like the look of the all aluminium ones to be honest. I prefer the trad Travis Bean set up, including wooden fretboard. DEFINITELY more susceptible to temperature changes too (despite some claiming otherwise).
I also don't like the skinnier Electrical Headstock compared to the TB style. Actually turns me off (shallow I know) as it just doesn't sit right aesthetically - the weighting is not right or some subjective shit.

aren't you thinking of a dan armstrong rather than travis bean?George wrote:not for me, although keith richards got some pretty cool sounds out of the perspex models
TBs have the T headstock, EGC (homages to the originals, since travis bean only made a few hundred and is now dead) have the triangular shape.George wrote:i didn't know the headstock changed but the old T is cooler in my opinion

Well, you wouldn't mistake the sound for another guitar, that's for sure. It's capable of being quite musical as the pickups aren't particularly hot, however the clanginess can dominate. If you want that sound, it does it perfectly. However, you can eq a Telecaster to sound similar, and that has lots of other sounds too! That said, I do like it lots, and will never sell (it was my main guitar for a good few years). I bought it in late 2006 and custom spec'd a few things like the tuners and there's a slight radius on the neck and narrow frets. It was only £800 due to their lower early prices and the generous exchange rate at the time.gusman2x wrote:I've heard people say it's a revelation, and ruins all other guitars. Where does it stand in your pecking order?
