i think my main issue is that hardtail offsets are a missed opportunity. the jaguar tremolos are just so fantastic (mustangs not so much but they're still up there), but of course it's different strokes, and as much as i keep banging on about the trem being perfect, and can handle alt tuning and snapped strings, some people still need somethign more rough and ready.

i absolutely love the jaguarillo though, despite the full width humbucker being a little bit of a blemish. i'd love that same config on a mustang body.

Strats and Teles have been remade in the most unholy incarnations millions of times over, with the same old names slapped onto the headstock. I don't see why Mustangs should necessarily be distinct, so long as the silhouette is the same. Do I think I'd buy a double-fat mustang with a tune-o-matic? Not really. Do I think it still counts as Mustang? Sure. I can't help but wonder if some of you guys would be absolutely fine with this guitar if they named it after some other slightly more obscure automobile instead.
i think the reason some of us consider the mustangs and jaguars more "sacred" (for lack of a better term) is the fact that strats and teles have been so bastardized and over-saturating through the years. as far as i know, these previously less popular models remained relatively "pure" in their factory presentations until the last 10 or 15 years. to see jags and mustangs get the strat treatment is troublesome for some reason even if a lot of the elements to these new models simply reflect modifications made by players for decades. it sounds silly, i will admit, but i don't like fender sanctioning that. i'd rather they released more finish and aesthetic options (blocks, binding, tuners, etc) or, i dunno, a lefty that doesn't cost 50% more than it should for a our backwards friends. =]

in the end, of course fender can name whatever they want with whatever options they choose. it's their dime. i just don't see how diluting a name most people already don't know (seriously, how many of your non-musician friends know what a jaguar is vs. a stratocaster?) is going to net them better sales. whatevs.

Now this thread is giving me a headache!

BobArseCake stop complaning about something that really dosent matters.

Its a fucking Fender Mustang with 2 humbuckers a really nice neck and a tune o matic.
Loses the big metall thing and bamm a fucking mustang. And dosent have the 2 single coils and the the same pickup switching.
I have played mustangs for years, 65 re, comp 68 re. Can use them all without getting them out of tune and the switching as well.
So thats not the point here.

My review wasnt go buy the guitar. I was explaning my experience with it. And it was good.

All i want is:
People should stop with criticism.
Go and figure out themselfs and then come with comments.

Not that ohhhhh buuuuhuuu ouuuu
The world has enough with that already.

And do not forget its a Shortscale and im a Shortscale player.
I get why Fender do these.
I also think that the price is to high. Should at least come with a hardcase. Not a softcase.
But i think Fender is rising their prices sky high these days, and in the future they will not sell Fender but Squier, and people will mod them.

I'm not going to keep my trap shut because you don't like it. This thread wasn't about you and your guitar, I'd just not have posted if it was. I'm glad that you like your guitar.

you got all the wine already! hello!
sure its a great guitar, but imo it loses alot of the "mustang" vibe with the buckers and TOM bridge setup with the toggle. thats my 2 cents.

You might be right.

I don't really get folks issues with this. If WM loves the guitar, has the features he most desires...then cool right? Why should he HAVE to want a stock mustang?

I don't really dig this on an aesthetic level, but functionally it hits a particular niche perfectly.
