The Jaguar has landed! I am very pleased with it. The weight is light and the color is great. The pickguard is yellowed so I am pleased with it. The knobs do have a set screw and solid shaft pots. Pickups sound excellent. The neck is nice and warm and the bridge is bright. Action setup is great. Mustang bridge works well. I would like to put a US tremolo on it just for string spacing, but that is pretty much cosmetic. It works great. Here are the pictures. Pretty sure Daphne it is. The Sonic Blue Jagstang I used to have was much more pale. It looks like the Daphne Blue Mustang I used to have.
I think I know why I got this so cheap. I noticed when I was adjusting the knobs that the solid pot had a locking washer on top of the plate. I worked on that today and found out that the volume was split shaft. No biggie, I had Sparta pots to put in. Finished that and when reattaching the grounds one pulled out from the cavity. Plugged in the guitar to see what ground I had broken and it was the neck pickup. Took the guard off to repair the ground and saw there were springs under the pickup mounting screws. Took those off. Also noticed the bridge had been routed for a strat pickup. It was done well and painted with shielding paint. The pickguard screws were pretty stripped, so I did the toothpick trick with wood glue and screwed it back down. It is all good now except the bridge pickup is too quiet. I need to put more foam under it.
For the price, I still think it is fine. None of those things bug me too much, but more hidden on this than the seller had mentioned.
Love that couple of blue and green. You should change the white pickguard on the vm. I have a red vm jag and changed the pg to a mintgreen one. It looks so much better...
It's new bridge pickup came in! I decided to toss in a hot rail since it was already routed a bit under there. I really like it! I also added a Mastery to it. SEXY
these hot rail manufacturers could create a decent revenue stream by offering a version that fits a jag route/guard better. . . with a claw would be off the chizzy.
The claw would have fit fine if the wire wasn't coming out of the bottom side of the pickup. I was going to put the claw on if not for that and I didn't want to cut the claw up or drill a hole in it just for looks.
I kind of dig the sloppy look to it. Kind of like my squire where I took out the pots and neck pickup and just left them empty.
