NGD: 1965 Mustang

Finally got a guitar I've wanted for a long time. I worked out a trade and money deal with Fender-o-phile on OSG for this beautiful 1965 Dakota Red Mustang. In great shape with some nice fine checking. B neck. Even has the bridge cover. It is all original except the tuners were replaced with Schallers in the Mid 80's. It's the only bad part about it. I think new holes were drilled. If not, I'll put vintage ones on it again. It's missing the vibrato bar but that's not a big deal. The pickups were replaced with dimarzios as well around the time the tuners were replaced. Luckily they hung on to the originals and didn't change the wiring at all. So it is just a matter of resoldering them. I'm super excited. More pictures to come when it arrives!

You could use conversion bushings if the tuner post holes have been enlarged.
Gorgeous guitar, I still love the look of Mustangs so much that I've debated getting a Mustang body to do a transplant on my JS many times, especially since parted out Squier VM bodies started hitting the bay. It was what I originally wanted over the JS in the '90s anyway.

Yeah. This is what I was thinking but I think new holes were drilled and the old f tuners won't cover them on the back of the headstock.

First impression... Wow! Is this really vintage or a reissue? It's that clean. The chrome looks like it just came off the line. The paint is very shiny and glossy. No dings or anything. A few tiny pen tip sized flakes on the front and on the side is all. The tuners are fine. They are gonna work way better than the vintage so I think I'm gonna leave them. I love this thing. More pics later after work and a demo once I get the pickups wired back in.

That's awesome. It's crazy how different the logos are. Could possibly have to do with the neck types? Mines a slab board.
