unfortunately kurdtz's tone is no longer replicable
first, not least due to kurdtz's physiology (very short and skinny meaning less contact with the guitar body so less dissipation of tone from the wood, and of course his pronounced knuckle structure), he also used a particular jim dunlop plectrum which is no longer the same due to fairly recent changes in mass produced celluloid (will skip you the part about older polymers now breaching environmental standards, which you probably know anyway). in short those plectrums would be illegal to produce and if you are lucky to find nos versions on ebay expect to pay a hefty price.
it's a real shame that no one will ever sound like kurdtz anymore. i've stopped trying now and have resigned myself to just enjoy the old recordings and hearing the great man play. truly the greatest guitarist and fingers ever. rip in peace.

i always love the story about Julian Cope not mentioning Courtney in his books even though she whored herself about the Liverpool scene of the 80s and he said it was the best revenge he could find for the media whore, just deny she ever existed
