new peer pressure guitar day

Post by sholkham »

I actually got this over a week ago but I haven't posted it yet.

It's a Vintage with a hard to remember model name. I've always wanted a Pete Townsend style SG which has the neck p90 too, but this was on ebay crazy cheap and I mainly use the bridge position anyway. Plus everyone else seemed to be getting vintages.

The good: nice neck, matte finish, all the hardware seems pretty solid, pretend to be guitar wolf.

The bad: the finish and paintjob is a bit shoddy in places, as well as the nut. The relic job isn't as pronounced as it looks in promo photos which is nice, but I could have done without someone in the factory stabbing around the jack to simulate wear  . Nothing I would complain about on a <£100 guitar though

Not sure on the stacked p90 it came with ,granted it has no hum but it seems a bit quacky, might swap it out for a proper p90 if anyone has any suggestions

nice, i believe its a vs6 junior

i'm over the moon with my vintage gold top. the pickups in mine were wilko stacked p90s which i found a little too dark and not very articulate. i opted to change them for some of these.

cheap, alnico 3, and more of a vintage wind so they're more chirpy. they also do some other flavours and dog ears. recommend. however, if you take out the stacked model you'll see it's really really deep so you'll have to fill in the rout somehow before fitting a regular depth p90 (i used folded cardboard). my gold top has little hum even with the new truer p90 design, i think because it's well shielded and grounded anyway

you can get them on US ebay now. someone's importing them but they are more expensive than in the uk (fancy that!). i really recommend the v100 gold top.

There was a shop in Raleigh that carried the line of Vintage stuff a while back. They have not had any for a while.

Nice I was eyeing one of those and the nick abrams sig up but went for the v100gt as I git a really good deal.... feels far better than the epiphone LP's I've played over the years (and I like a good epiphone my Riviera is my longest serving guitar) and nice enough to wonder why someone would shell out for a Gibson (not saying It's top line Gibson quality but the £ to better ratio isn't set in Gibson's favour)

Thanks George I'll bear those in mind when they get the black dog ears in, I didn't even consider the rout difference
