How to tame your bronco
i bought a fender bronco a few months ago and finally had a chance to plug it in to a proper guitar amp. No low end at all. Is this something all broncos lack? What should i do to mod it? Currently it sounds like a tele bridge with the mid and bass scooped

if you rip off the bigass plastic cover, it fits under a mustang cover

he should be able to get some decent beef from that pickup, though. even if it is original and, therefore, a little mellower in tone, this sounds more to me like there could be a loose wire under the guard. a ground could easily be off or missing.
are you comfortable opening it up and inspecting the solder points?

i'll take another look at the solder points. I'm wondering if the cap is dead because when i turn the tone all the way down the volume drops significantly. it acts almost like a second volume potdots wrote:he should be able to get some decent beef from that pickup, though. even if it is original and, therefore, a little mellower in tone, this sounds more to me like there could be a loose wire under the guard. a ground could easily be off or missing.

My Bronco is pretty damn bright and Tele-like. There's some low end that should be decent enough for most applications, but its the polar opposite of, say, a Jazzmaster's rhythm circuit.
However, it seems you're getting a undesirable thin sound. If the tone knob is attenuating your volume instead of rolling off high end, definitely take the time to check your solder joints. Is the tone knob doing any roll off at all?
