Dual New Guitar Day

Post by HNB »

I got these this last week from Nick. I took awhile setting them up and such. I am pretty happy with them. The first is a Korean guitar with gold foil pickups. It is super light. It had a neck pocket finish crack that I repaired. I also filled a wood crack in the fretboard with epoxy. This one has a stained fretboard. Very interesting. The pickups are very good even at high volume and gain.

The other guitar from the same deal is a Tele style one with a tremolo. Works great. It is pretty heavy. I like the red wood grain'ish pickguard and the roller tom is really good. Stays in tune great.

Dude is there any chance you could measure the scale on the tele? where does the bridge fall? Is it intonated exactly?

I'm having huge issue with that bridge and loads of other folks at TDPRi have too....

It is normal 25.5 scale. The bridge has allen screws so you can shift it towards the neck or away. I have it as far away from the neck as I can, but it did intonate. It also has a shim because the bridge is a bitch to raise or lower so I have it resting on the tele plate. The neck is the type where the fretboard extends over the pickguard and is a thicker rosewood then my other necks so maybe the action is such that it intonates ok? The Low E and G saddles are about as far back as I could get them to go though. The others are in fine.

The finish on the metallic grey one isn't factory, but I like it. Feels like a color coat with no clear over it. The headstock on it is similar to a Tele, but fatter. I might do a Rocket Tone decal for it since that is Nick's brand and he put it together. The chickenhead knobs are pretty fun. It sounds nice. Middle position is out of phase though. I might try swapping the bridge wires since the neck one likely has the cover connected to ground.
