Price check in aisle 2: "Bud box" era MXR Dyna Com

Post by laterallateral »

So I've come into possession of one of these.

How exactly, is a long story involving dumpster diving Liberal University echo-chamber Freegan tenants, sneaky rent evasion and weak internet skills.

Anyway, I have no use for such an effect and I know that mid 70s MXR stuff can sometimes fetch a decent sack of coin but the prices I am finding for these vary quite a bit.

Ebay has a couple of them listed in the $400 - $500 range (That can't be right, can it?) and I'm seeing a bunch in the $170 - $250 range. What an fuck?

Seeing as this probably matters, Mine is in decent cosmetic shape considering it's age. The inside is clean with no evidence of modification or to have ever been repaired. The pots aren't scratchy, the jacks are nice and tight, as is the switch. The only possible issue is that I've had the shitty foam that was in there to keep the board from shorting out on the metal components crumble apart, when I tried pulling it out. Cleaning it up was pretty painless and I'll be putting a new piece in, before passing it on.

So what do you guys think? Am I taking my housemates out for a fancy dinner or at the Chinese buffet?

I think the crumbly foam issue is quite common. No idea of value but if you got it for a song it's worth a punt on ebay starting at $0.01.

This guy seems to think they're worth 150-300.. . Since the script reissue sells for $~150 and we all know original is usually mo bettah than reissue... You should be able to net a bit more than that due to condition.

Thanks! That was pretty informative.
The dude seems to have a bit of a chip on his shoulders regarding the kinds of prices these are going for and I understand that completely but it seems a bit out of place in an informative article... Anyway, this gives me a pretty good idea about what I can ask for this, without insulting anybody.
