The knobs on my CIJ Jaguar are annoying me with their smallness.
If I purchase some (larger) USA knobs, will they fit on the CIJ shafts, or would I need to buy USA pots as well?
Will USA Jag knobs fit on CIJ Jag pots?

If you're careful I think you can screw them onto the japanese split shafts, avoiding the split, and you should be ok. There's a small grub screw on the side of the knob. But really I think the shaft is smaller to so you may get a slight warble when rotated. To be honest I've not particularly tried but just assume the above... and probably beneficial to get the CTS style pots to go along with them.
This. It'll work fine, but there's a chance of breaking the split shaft's pot and/or having a wobbly knob without a bit more effort fitting the knob.othomas2 wrote:If you're careful I think you can screw them onto the japanese split shafts, avoiding the split, and you should be ok.
I've actually heard it's better to get the grub screw between the split if you can so it has somewhere to nestle (it's too thick to go through), otherwise you'll just bend the sides towards each other.

I figured that out when I put the Shadow knobs on the SGuar when I was like 14. Seemed common sense. Can't believe we had to have a thread to arrive at it.paul_ wrote:it's better to get the grub screw between the split if you can so it has somewhere to nestle (it's too thick to go through), otherwise you'll just bend the sides towards each other.

Yeah I figured that out after I split a shaft, though it gave me an excuse to rewire with new potsBacchusPaul wrote:I noticed the Westone I have has a shim of plastic in the split, presumably to stop the shaft from breaking when the grub screw is tightened.
I thought his was a brilliant idea and it's probably pretty easy to replicate with a bit of plectrum or something.
