Marshall (original) drivemaster...

Post by dezb1 »

Anybody had/got one, I just bought one for cheap on the spur of the moment as I seem to remember they were the same circuit as the old Guvnors without the fx loop...

Had one on my board for a couple of years now as my main distortion pedal and I've loved it. It's a fantastic Marshall in a box sound with a really flexible EQ section. The lower gain sounds aren't fantastic but still good. I'm looking to buy a pedal to use as a booster for it; probably the EHX Soul Food or Boss OD-3

I've heard that rumour about the Guv'nor and Drivemaster being the same but there are a few people that say it isn't true. I guess you could always find the schematics online to check.

Cool, cheers for the response looking forward to getting it... An ex band mate had the old guvnor and it was a nice bit of kit, but they sell for funny money these days.

I've got one, although I haven't been using it much recently. Noirie is 100% right about it copping those tones.

I hadn't considered selling it to be honest, but since I'm not using it, and I'm unlikely to use it for the foreseeable future...

I'll have a think and let you know.

Well it arrived today, been making a racket with it this evening. Cool pedal the eq section is ace gives plenty of tonal variation, boosted it with the eno Rat and the Old Rak and got teh Suede tonez. Used it as a boost for the Big Muff which was a rather tasty noise all in all quality purchase need to find some sort of cover for the battery compartment as it's missing.
