Compensated Tele saddles...

Just put a set on a guitar I've had for 9 years what a difference intonation is spot on, should've done it years ago...

Building up to doing it on my duo.

Don't want to though, as it plays amazing, and I HATE changing anything, because you never get them back as good as they were before /paranoia

Would quite like better intonation and no rattles though.

i toyed with these a while ok, but to be honest the baja is pretty much spot on. have more issue intonating the start than the tele.

Got these on my Duo and Tele, no issues, the ones I have are brass for the special tonez...

my OCD won't let me put brass saddles in a steel bridge... Besides I like the zing.

Yeah, I guess so. My reasoning is two fold: Firstly, I can't be bothered to nail varnish the screws in the current saddles because I'm telling myself I'll change them soon enough (I won't). Secondly, I the stock metal work is pretty cheap ass shit, so I thought that the Wilkinson compensated saddles would have better quality screws and threads.

It's all academic, as I daren't touch a thing on it, as it's my favourite player.

When people say things like that, I think it means you need to get yourself some feeler gauges. There's no art to replacing saddles. It's all science. If you can get your strings to the same height, they will feel the same. You don't even have to pop the strings off.

They can, if the saddles were of cheap pot metal and the quality wasn't very good to begin with.

Yeah I've got feeler gauges. I'm also an engineer, so doing stuff doesn't really bother me. I do however suffer from high levels of neurosis, and if I change anything with a set up I'm happy with, I'm super over critical of the result, and will make myself believe that it's not as good as it was before. I'm basically a worrying idiot.

Probably will take the plunge though. Although I'm in the process of trying to make my mustang sound more mustang like (and thus more like the duo), so it may become a bit of a moot point.
