A while back I traded my white and tort 69RI Mustang for a Cobain Mustang in Placid Blue with a racing stripe. Love the Cobain but missed my 69RI. I hunted for another and found another on OSG. Agreed a price but couldn't get time to get my ass to San Diego yo fetch it. I look on C/L I find THAT guitar listed for CHEAPER that what I was gonna pay. So I did what any asshole like myself would do. Emailed him a lower offer. He got emo and posted on OSG he was gonna throw the guitar in the ocean and says he'd rather keep it. As he has it listed on Reverb. Gotta love the internet.
I then stumbled on another with a lesser ding , better price and already hotrodded. It was my lucky day.

Duncan Hot Rail bridge and lil 59 neck with 500k pots. Pretty nice combo.
I noticed by comparing that the mixer at Fender Japan for Placid Blue is fucking color blind. Supposed to be the same but the 69 is blue and the Cobain is a purpleish tint . I guess it'll be a bitch to find a touch up paint.

Happy NGD. How's the lil 59? I've always been curious about them.

I have a dual humbucker 69 stang as well, but from the issue as opposed to the reissue.

im pretty sure its OLP and the 2002RI compstang is LPB

I like it a lot but to be honest it doesn't really sound like a Mustang... Kinda lacking that " Mustang Wonk" . Talking to a fellow Shortscaler here about some Curtis Novaks . Turn it into a Snobstang .

Just to add a tad...

I can't speak for neck-position, but I actually liked the Li'l '59 bridge p'up in the Cindicaster Mk.I (I admittedly have to rewind my brain back 8 years to recall the thing), it was wound just enough to break up super nice without getting all brootalz and stuff, and from what I could tell the proximity to the bridge made it the perfect bridge-bucker for single coil lovers who don't want to give up all of their trenble frequencies for the sake of honking midrange crunchies. The downside of it being an angled humbucker though was that despite a lot of fiddling about with the pole-pieces, splitting the thing yielded a very weak, unbalanced output across the strings and rendered it utterly useless, but if drive is your game it's a great choice as-is.

My lil 59 doesn't even sound like a 59 with the 500k pots . Sounds more like a p-90 than anything . Kinda fat .. If I reverse the polarity I can almost get that Mustang " wonk" out of it . Almost sounds like the 65RI in the neck of the KC Stang .
