MUSTANG BRIDGE QUESTION

Probably the millionth question asked about the stands bridgeâ€¦ i have a mustang bridge on my jaguar and the saddles and bridge sometime buzz. i read somewhere on this forum or the "other" that the mustang bridges with the saddles touching will rid the bridge of any buzzing. i have this bridge on one of my actual mustangs but on my jag and my other mustang i have the bridge that has gaps in-between saddles. can someone provide a link or an explanation about it? can you provide a link to purchase these saddles? i remember a long time back this was a post and there was a place to get JUST the saddles. thanks!!

It is likely being caused by the tube that your strings mount to being too low. If the angle from the bridge to the tube is too sharp, it makes the strings hit the metal parts on the back side of the bridge where the saddle adjustment strings are. You can use an allen wrench in the two little holes on the bridge to raise the tube up a bit until the buzzing stops. With Jags if you are having that problem, you can reverse the bridge so the adjustment screws face the neck instead of the tremolo.

Hey HNB I'm even thinking about just throwing in a adjustomatic bridge in my japanese jaguar. i saw on another forum that you posted this

i was wondering if you'd know if one of those links inside that thread you provided would work with a regular japanese jaguar? what would be that process for installing this?? as easy as a drop in? I TOO have the blacktop jaguar with the adjustomatic stock thats where i got the idea.

For an Adjusto Matic, you can tape the bridge posts and just have it sit on the pickguard and the string pressure holds it down. If you want to install it properly, you can pull the thimbles out using a soldering iron and screw driver, drill the hole slightly larger, then press in the TOM mounts.

To remedy the gaps between saddles problem, I put little bit of blu tack inbetween them. Seems to work out okay for me.

Would like to upgrade to a StayTrem bridge at some point down the line though.

Even when I had a mastery I still had to put a piece of cloth between the two saddles. Without it, they would rattle and the g would sound really dull.
