Field recordings
Anyone got recommendations for devices for field recordings? Not got much budget really but would like to start recording shit to mess about with in the granulator synth I got for max4live http://monolake.de/technology/granulator.html

The H4N is a fantastic little guy, would definitely recommend.
I've felt the mic preamps are a tad meh with a bit of noticeable hissy noise at quieter volumes, but for typical daily use and louder recordings in general you'll be just fine if the input volume threshold is carefully adjusted first. Mine gets huge amounts of use, including pretty much all the sounds I've uploaded to Free Sound. CLICKEY DEH LINKO
And so that I don't disappoint Fran...It goes without saying, but the majority of ambience on the Galaxy S3 ads from 2012 was done on my HN4 as well, including the noisy male mockingbirds heard at the wedding party scene; They were actually recorded in the front yard of my parents' place.
