Someone on OSG's just posted a link to a Dutch site with details of some new Squier guitars and basses. Antigua baritone Jazzmaster is gross, Thinline Teles are giving me bonars.
So many of those Antigua things are going to be repainted, the pg looks weird in the upper left section.
I know its boring but I think I like the Sherwood green classic vibe strat best.

That Jazzmaster looks like they've stuck a VI neck on one of the original hard tail VM Jazzmasters. The ones with the Strat jacks. 30" scale by the looks of things.

The Antigua JM Baritone was so close to a home run, but then neck pickup placement and pickguard shape showed up to the party, already drunk and yelling about how irreplaceable Michael FUCKING Jackson was.

Yeah, I think that's exactly what's going on. Why the fuck would they go back to that strat jack JM design? They must have extra bodies sitting around and I'm sure the VM "special" isn't selling so well these days.

Had to extend it to make room for the repositioned neck pickup, and they matched it to the curvature on the bottom horn. Makes sense to me.

Surely a better solution would have been putting the pickups in a normal place? Their placement doesn't bother me exactly, but it definitely isn't where they'd usually be...
If you put the pickups in their normal position, you'd be putting them where the standing wave moving across the string has less than maximum amplitude, so they'd be quieter and less rich sounding.

First thought... Thats fake or a jap copy guitar. Then I thought about it and it looks like they are using the bass VI necks and first wave vm jazzmaster bodies/ hardware. maybe leftovers?
