Loar? They are not too expensive. As well as Godin 5th Avenue. There are some vintage like 50's thinline archtop Epiphone Olimpic that appears from time to time on ebay for about $1000 - 1200 or so

Looks nice, but sounds shit on all the vids I could find, and Loar build quality gets a battering too.

I've heard good things about the good loars but I've beards some terrible things about the bad ones. I think in recent years they've began to be more consistent but I'd still not trust buying one of these without at least seeing it first.

I myself am interest in the lh600 or lh700 and hope to find a nice one at some point in the future. I think it's probably as close as I'll manage to get to a 30s gibson l5 on a struggling jazz musicians budget!

The price and looks are right enough on that Loar to set it up for some Elmore James biznazz and forget entirely how well it's built.

Unless it falls apart. Then I'll be all like "aw shit, you should've done your research man"
