Actually not trolling there. He really is very good. And I don't even like the band. It's interesting that it's not talked about more, in spite of how utterly obvious how easily JDB could have played into the guitar God role (and he came close with his iconic shirt-off-white-Les-Paul period) once you listen to his playing.George wrote:i mean really though
he might be good and you might like msp, but "one of the most technically accomplished guitarists the UK has ever produced" lol?
c'mon guys...
I see Gaz Coombes in the same light. And Bernard Butler. The technical accomplishment is there but it's the way they use it instead of plastering it over every musical surface they can find.

I think Fender is growing a set a kiwis and trying some unique shit instead of the same ole butterscotch Tele, sunburst Strat and other things they normally do. It's refreshing. I hope they get more daring.Dillon wrote:With all the bizarre shit coming out in the Classic Player and Modern Player lines, I can't help but think Fender just gave a free factory tour (and maybe some pick holder keychains) to a bunch of teenage fanboys, in exchange for building random things on the Kisekae designer.
And that Strat with WRHBs ? That it cool. That's stuff that I've had in my idea book for years. They just need to start playing more with their offsets too. Hybrid stuff. A mustang Tele? A Jazzmaster with something other than humbuckers ? Let the Fender designers get creative.

If they reintroduced the Cyclone I and the Toronado, it would not be a bad idea, there are lots of useless guitars in the Pawn Shop, Black Top and Modern Player series... I'd like to see the Cylone again, better in a Squier, affordable version: Vintage Modified with Duncan Design pickups would be great.Rox wrote:I think Fender is growing a set a kiwis and trying some unique shit instead of the same ole butterscotch Tele, sunburst Strat and other things they normally do. Fender USA should sees and follows what Fender Japan does: the Fender and Squier Japanese sites are full of porno guitars and basses; all those finishes available, mustang and stratocaster thinline, squier cyclone, so many jazzmasters... MOTHER OF GUITAR!

Fender actually reintroduced the Cyclone as a Squier recently and oddly it wasn't publicized that much .. Not on their site , nothing .. Ironically it didn't sell that well ( hm, go figure ) .Golden_Sonic wrote:If they reintroduced the Cyclone I and the Toronado, it would not be a bad idea, there are lots of useless guitars in the Pawn Shop, Black Top and Modern Player series... I'm one that waited for the Super Sonic . I was happy to see it come out even though it was a Pawnshop . I'll own one .. Then there's the other side of the coin where people pleaded with Fender to reintroduce the 51 . And they did . And no one bought it .. LOL Now they have it as a Squier too so we will see how that goes . It would be nice to see the Toronado come back . I have one . On the fence to sell it though . I think it's because I want a Super Sonic .

Other than the Renaldo sig, yeah.Noirie. wrote:a Jazzblaster with Wide Rangers.
I'm not crazy about the idea of jazzblasters but I can imagine how the singular finish option and the prohibitive price might have deterred many of the people that really are into this configuration from buying one.

Too bad those aren't real WRHBs in that Strat, they're more likely just regular humbuckers with only half the poles exposed. Well, then again, reissue WRHBs were never "real" to begin with. I bet it's the same pickup as the reissues, in a regular HB Sized case.Rox wrote:Fender actually reintroduced the Cyclone as a Squier recently and oddly it wasn't publicized that much .. Fender '51 didn't sell because it was too expensive. That was the charm of the Squier: a good modding platform for a steal of a price. Guitar Center near me had two brand new '51s for $350 a while back, I almost bought one, but then I realized that they feel exactly like the Squier models with a gloss neck

I think if they brought back a Cyclone II and a Toronado, both branded as Fender, and both reasonably priced (meaning probably Chinese models), they'd sell. Toronado with WRHBs and some cool switching would be money.
All the regular sized ones they've done so far have been Enforcers. They're a ceramic magnet 24k bucker, so probably in the realm of a Super Distortion or Invader, it's the hottest stock Fender pickup available. They're also in the Classic Player HH Jag, and the Pawnshop Mustang.Dillon wrote:Too bad those aren't real WRHBs in that Strat, they're more likely just regular humbuckers with only half the poles exposed.
