One of these bad boys. I think I must have bought it in 2006. Sold it to my bandmate in 2010. No idea if he still has it.

Not a good 'metal' distortion in the slightest, but it could do some pretty nasty velcro fuzz sounds if you set it right.

Like Andi, not really a pedal, but my first effect;

I built it as a fuzz originally then rebuilt it as a treble boost.

DOD FX52, then a Crybaby, an Arion Phaser, then I picked up a vintage script MXR D+ and a grey MXR modulation pedal (phaser perhaps?) for a tenner each. THis was all between 89-93. I still have the Distortion +, the rest are long gone.

Mine was an Ibanez Slam Punk, which I have found is listed in PGS's worst pedals of the 80's/90's thread.

Worst Effects of the 80's/90's

I think after that it was a DS1 and a Black Russian Muff. Modulation wise, a Boss PH2 and DD3.

zoom powerdrive, directly as a result of mike's demo video.

i can't remember if that pedal was any good but at that point my only overdrive was from the built in one on the 10 watt marshall i was borrowing so it was wonderful.

e: blimey these pedals have shot up in price on ebay. i'm pretty sure mine went to danheron at some point.

My first was a DS-1, but it broke somehow (seriously no clue, i probably could have saved it if I knew any basic soldering a few years ago) so i got a Turbo RAT to replace it. God damn, I love the Turbo RAT.

I think it was either a Behringer VP1 (Small Stone clone) or a VD400 to use with my synths before playing guitar. After I started playing guitar, it was either a home-brew OD/distortion my friend made or a TC Nova Repeater.

I can't quite remember which one I got first but it was either one of these:

The xtortion was xtra xturdy so i xtraded it for an Ibanez LF7, which was equally turdy.
I still have the Grunge because it sounds good and still manages to piss people off when they see it next to other effects that are more universally approved of.

My first effects unit was a Zoom GFX-8
Image

I sold it to a friend from uni many years ago.

The first actual pedal I got was a NYC big muff.
