Your First Effects pedal ?

^same for me, outdid the distortion channel on my Crate GX15 but once I got bigger amps I didn't realize the DS-1 was bringing the "slightly-better-than-before tiny solid state amp" sound with it.

Given to me by a friend for free when I started out playing bass and then switched to guitar. A truly awful pedal in hindsight, but beggars can't be choosers I guess. It did a passable job when used on bass with the tone turned right down, but not much else sadly.
I think I passed it on to someone while I was in 6th form - kind of glad I don't have it now.
Yes.

My first pedal was a Boss OS2 overdrive/distortion as a Christmas gift with my Squier CV Duo Sonic. THe first pedal that I bought with my money was a Behringer FX600 multiFX for 12€ from a school mate. I sold my OS2 because of the terrible hum it produced (then I bought a Boss BD2 Blues Driver, still with me); the FX600 passed away last year, very very very cheap pedal but I suggest it to all the noob guitarists because it's an useful device for knowing different kind of effects (all in one pedal): tremolo, flanger, chorus, phaser, delay and pitch shifter.
