Cheers kidz, I'm pretty happy with the price I got it for (£450 delivered). Seems like a good deal nowadays for a rare colour plus matching headstock.

This needs a tort guard, yes?
Please do not tort your new guitar. Tort on green will make the baby Jesus cry.

Otm is a great colour and 450 is a good price at this point in time. Happy strumming bud.

I'm pretty sure it needs tort. White on OTM is just too cold, too stale, too clinical. Tort would warm things up nicely. I reckon.

And before anyone suggests it, fuck mint.

No way, mint would be great if it's the right shade

Gold would be my choice though. Different and classy.

Congrats BTW, rare color!

Agreed. Years ago I used to be kind of a mint fanboy until I realized how fucking *amber* it is.

That said I also hate tort. Well not in theory, I've had some great oddball 60's guitars with some neat tort. But nowadays it's so hit and miss, I would never buy a "printed tort" pickguard no matter how good the pixels are.

Black, Cream, or parchment.

Congrats on the acquisition!

Looks a lot like mine, though it may not stick with me that much longer #redundantsinglecoilmadness

I'm nonetheless convinced that OTM goods good with just about anything. Here's a re-post of some shots I did on our office roof to see how things look with a switcharoo.

Agreed, and with OTM being in the same general shade of colors it would almost have the faint aroma of teh Ranaldoez, either with black p'up covers or with Fender's imposter RI WRHB's.

Thanks everyone, especially for the pics. I'm still keen on tort, although I agree that decent quality tort is hard to come by – particularly for CIJ JMs. Has anyone got any close-up photos of the Allparts JM tort?

I'm not usually keen on gold PGs, but I reckon it looks better on OTM than on most other colours. Black would suit as well, but I want this JM to have a vintage vibe, aka tort.

In other news, it's just arrived and it's truly gorgeous! Will post pics later!

As does this:

But if you get a dark enough tort it's like the best of both worlds

I've got an AVRI tort, which is pretty dark and sexy. Is that bottom picture an AVRI tort on a CIJ JM?

Ima have a go at fitting it later. I've read conflicting reports of whether or not it'll fit.

a few of the screw holes dont line up correctly.
But you can pilot hole and fit new screws. Its all hidden under the guard, it just depends if you want to do it.

All parts USA do a mij guard that fits perfectly.

It's more than just the screw holes, no? On Jags at least, the body dimensions on CIJ / MIJ and AVRI are slightly different, as are the location of the controls. I'd be concerned that a guard made for an AVRI or Squier body wouldn't cover the cavities correctly. Never tried, though.

I think the issue is more around the outside edge of the guard where it meets the body. I think the edge isn't as consistent.
You will also need some bigger cts pots or some kind of mighty washer or something for the control holes on the lead section.

more reason to stay white? :-D

It arrived yesterday and I modded it last night.

My AVRI tort guard fit after I filed the holes for the bridge posts and relocated a few screw holes. I also had to clean off a lot of gunk and remove quite a significant (and totally unnecessary) neck shim.

It's also now got:
- Mojo pickups
- Fender AVRI tremolo
- Staytrem bridge
- Staytrem arm & collet
- Fender AV65 witch hat knobs
- Switchcraft switches
- d'Addario 11-49s (with wound G)

This thing is now The Tits.

Before & after shots below. I actually quite liked the white guard; I'll keep it for when I get bored of tort.

Sorry, it's going on my Squier that I will sell. (No longer have the Squier one either.)
