There's no batter compartment to be seen so I take it they're passive, very loud though. I'm sure the sales card had emg model numbers written on it I think I'll email the shop n ask, as I know nowt about emg's n the like.
Open the control cavity, there could be a battery in there.
If there is no battery 100% sure they are fake EMGs, passive EMGs do not look like that, they are visually copies of older active EMGs. Those are really bright pickups too (the fake ones, never had the real ones).
Also, if you take the pickups out, the fakes just have fixed leads on the back of the pickup, while the real ones have solderless fork connectors.

Skylark seem like a cheapo brand but the quality looks decent, how does it play?
It's pretty decent, need to sort out the action and have a wee look at making the trem a bit more stable. Skylark are ok cheap guitars I had one of their plexiglass strats and it was Awreet as well (stayed in tune trem worked reasonably well, only problem with this one is feel like I should be wearing an 80s trench coat while playing it.

I looked online after my post. They aren't that cheap, seems I was wrong.

Had this thing for the best part of a week now, it's not lost it's fun factor yet the trem lock is a great idea, the trem it's self is a bit temperamental, I've been looking for a manual for it, (any help would be appreciated) Also it would seem you either think these things are as cool as fuck or a total fucking joke.

Never looked at one close up but it appears to be like a Kahler. Is there a unit that rocks inside the main unit?
There may be a grub screw to set the tension, other than that it might be a case of waiting until the strings are fully 'stretched in' and settled.
