NGD: VOODOO Strat toanz

Post by Dillon »

Almost not worth posting this, but I'm hoping somebody can help me identify what it is. In the process of moving I found just how many Strat parts I have laying around, so I decided to browse the local CL for a new project. Picked this oddity up for $50.

Thought it might be a Squier Bullet, but 1) there's no evidence of a Squier logo being sanded off, 2) pretty sure they never made those in CAR, and 3) the pickguard is 3-ply. Aside from the headstock, there are no other markings on the neck whatsoever. Might pull the neck off the body when I get a chance.

Anyway, it's the best sonding $50 guitar I've ever picked up. Fretwork is great; nicely filed edges and no buzzing. Pretty nice paint, too. Doesn't photograph well but it's a good halfway point between your typical CAR and a full on sparkle job. With a bone nut and upgraded bridge the thing will be a real player.

From the name of this thread I thought it would be about these Gibson "authentic Hendrix" strats lol

Nice score dude...IMO that would look beautiful with a mint pickguard.

I too like the sparkle and agree a mint guard would set it off.

Never heard of the brand.

Yeah, that really is a gorgeous colour. I've never heard of the brand either, but it could be one of numerous 'startercaster' models that are made in the same factories as more well-known stuff for all we know. Even if it's a no-name Chinese knock-off, it's still a keeper if it sounds and plays okay. Especially at that price. Nice score dude. ((thumup)
