Epiphone Slasher

Post by westtexasred »

I got this today. It's a 2001 Epiphone Slasher in Metallic Light Blue . It's a Chimera of sorts with a Firebird body and an Explorer bolt-on Maple neck. The pickups E-Series "Ultra Hot humbuckers" with engraved E-Series logo on the pickup covers.

I remember they had an fx model with built in effects...always saw it in guitar mags and catalogs circa 2002 for stupid cheap but never could find one to try.

I think he just finds these things in the pockets of old jackets while settling into the new house.

Frets99(Harmony Central friend) has one of the Slasher FX models.Apparently Epiphone only made about 200 of these.

I like oddities like this.

Btw, is that a Randall Commando II Amp in the pic Westy?
I had one of those years ago, it weighed a ton and I couldn't dial a decent sound in on that thing no matter what. Was glad to see the back of it.

Thanks! Here are some specs for the slasher .

Epiphone Slasher: 2001 Limited Edition(800 made)
- 2 E-Series "Ultra Hot" Humbuckers
- E-logo die-stamped Pickup Covers
- Die-cast tuners
- Chrome Hardware
- Explorer-S Headstock
- Indian Rosewood fingerboard
- Dot Inlays
- Maple Neck with "Super Slide" Satin Finish
- Bolt-on Neck Joint
- Stop-bar / String Thru Body Design
- E-Series Smooth Tone potentiometers
- 1 Vol / 1 Tone Knobs
- 3-way Selector Switch
- Passive Electronics

Epiphone Slasher FX: 2001-2002(200 made)
- Onboard Distortion and Chorus
- 1 vol / 1 tone / 1 Distortion Gain
- 2 Mini Toggles for Effects Board
- Active Electronics

Colors:

My amp is a Commander I. It's an RG-120 like the Commander II but it has a single 15" speaker in a closed back cabinet. I think it sounds good, especially with guitars with single coil pickups, plus it matches my tele.

Thanks for the info :)

I see now it has one speaker, mine had two and was on wheels. To be fair it was okay on a clean setting but hated pedals. The Overdrive was harsh and low gain too.

I'm totally feeling the upside-down-ness of that Slasher, and the drooping headstock. And the coral tele. I feel like if you combine the two, you might get this:

(well, sorta)
maybe I'll put a blackguard on it...
A Whole Bunch of Guitars. Some with sparkles. Some with Pearl. Some with racing stripes.
