i'll let ya know what i think when it gets here.
shows them both as the same price to me, and then a huge flag saying "WE DON'T SHIP TO CANADA, STUPID CANUCK!"
or something..
either way $919 shipped is killer.
wonder what the "deluxe gig bag" is going to look like.
shame it isn't a "generic hardshell case"
those usually last longer, and save guitars in shipping..
To each their own. It would still be a partscaster worth less than the sum of its parts with a cheap basswood body and a cheap poly finish.singlepickup24 wrote:Seems like a good choice if you really need a 7.25" radius.
But a Squier with super fancy pickups, upgraded electronics, and a StayTrem would be like $500-600. You could also pop a Musicmaster neck on said Squier and have a crazy cool modded guitar for less than one of these.
once you're only talking an extra $200 (less if you're adding a vintage neck) and not $500, you'd be foolish not to invest in a higher quality guitar all around (IMHO).
I may be after a Jazzmaster if this series runs a few years.
I'm with Nick on all points with this one.
Also I've tried a bunch now and while I was rather intrigued by them when they were introduced I've to date never remotely enjoyed playing a Squier VM. I've been spoiled by my Jag... if there's a Squier that approaches MIJ/CIJ quality out there I haven't come within 100 yards of it.
This is great news, it's been like 16 years since there was an equivalent Jaguar to this on the market and this one has even got a few welcome changes (AV pickups, finish colours, the finish itself).

I see where you guys are coming from, and I'll reserve judgement until I actually get a chance to play one of these bad boys. They do look cool, and stock AV pups is great news.
However, I'm definitely enjoying my Squier partscaster. With new pickups and a good set up, my VMJM feels great and sounds great. I think I have just over $500 into mine, so that's really a $400-500 difference. If I were ever to sell it, I'd make it stock again... The pups and StayTrem won't lose much value if I part them out.
Still, I do understand Paul's point about not finding a VM he liked. I have tried many in the store and was disappointed by the QC. I got really lucky with the one I found, and I am slightly hesitant to buy another. I wouldn't do it online.

Not that much of a difference atm if you like CAR. Sweetwater are selling the AV65s for $1299.

Only 4 in stock though.
That is a bargain, frankly.

AV Jaguars have gotten stupid expensive and I don't see any difference except maybe the electronics and lack of bridge mute. (Edit: Says it has AV pickupsAnd the knobs are screw-on, meaning it's probably the same as AV. I bet the neck is closer to CIJ though.)
