I remember when after getting used to all les pauls/sgs/teles/strats I saw made in USA Epiphone Wilshire Custom, I thought "Wow, this is something different and very classic at the same time"

Then I remembered that I saw the same E logo on some super cool, but unfamiliar for me at the time guitar. That was Coronet with one pickup in the hands of Peter Doherty.
After that I found out about the whole family of solid body guitars from Epiphone that were produced from the late 50's till the late 70's. So when reissue of the batwing headstock Wilshire appeared, I bought it. It was a cool little guitar to play.
I remember that there was the advertising slogan about Wilshire like "It only looks that expensive" or something like this. Your Crestwood has that vibe, it looks much more expensive than it really is.

Funnily enough, this style of Epi was probably always seen that way. The Coronets were originally just the budget version of the Les Paul Junior [DC, then SG], but the body design ran away with itself. It's definitely an odd story that won't be repeated with the Gibson/Epi brands due the different way Gibson handles Epi nowadays. The Coronets were like a pre-cursor to the Gibson Melody Maker but they actually ended up becoming a lot more collectable than '60s Gibson MMs (due to all the swankier Gibson Junior/Firebird parts on them, not to mention later on using pickups and trems from various eras of '60s Casino).sunshiner wrote:"Wow, this is something different and very classic at the same time"

Well, the Marshall MG 30DFX died after one day. The distortion kept cutting in and out on the overdrive channel. Now I know why these have such a poor reputation. I had 2 older Marshall solid-state amps(A Lead 12, a G-15CD and a Park G-10) and never had a problem with any of them. Anyway,I gave up on finding a cheap Marshall amp and bought this distortion pedal instead. It sounds good through My Stage Amp but not so good through my Randall.Maybe I should plug it into the effects loop in that amp? Oh and it sounds good through the tiny First Act amp too.
