I'm toying with the idea of getting a new acoustic due to my old fender Gemini being a bit shagged. I was looking at the epiphone hummingbird and their version of the J45. Anyone had any experience with them?

I've got the J45 a like. Not played it loads due to not playing acoustic as much these days, but it does have a nice tone. Less attack and sparkle than i'm used to, but i think that's a characteristic of the j45 anyway. Set up is pretty much ok. It may well benefit from non factory strings, but for £150 it sounds nice, and looks good.
I checked a couple of Epiphone dreadnoughts along with a couple from Yamaha in the shop. Epiphones do have skinier necks and in general they sounded brighter than Yamaha acoustics, which had deeper and slightly warmer tone. I actually liked Epiphones better, but I didn't like thin neck. Quality wise Epiphones seemed to be of a decent quality.
I've just sold my old Epiphone PR-5, and I own a Sigma 000-28 twelve fret slot head.
In isolation the Epiphone was fine, and it served me well for years - looked great too. Sound wise the Signa completely outclassed it, I appreciate they aren't quite like for like though.
