So jve identified the problem.
It's definately the tailpiece or trem unit.
When thar click happens, the tail piece jumps up a tiny bit. I can "reset" this by pulling up on the trem. I dont know how to fix this thoug. Do I need a new trem?
Probably not the most insightful response but have you tried pulling it apart and reassembling it? Sounds possible that something's not quite aligned.

Take off the trem and then loosen and rebuild it. Its the plates underneath snagging then popping back into place. Remember when I got my bass IV I said in the thread that all the other ones in the shop had issues, that was one of them. It sounds like knocking because it reverberates right through the body. It also totally borks the tuning. The Squier Jazz I had for a few weeks did the same thing. It was a super easy fix.

Make sure that the plate that the trem pivots on (that's the small plate thats screwed to the main plate) is screwed down flush and that it contacts the moving plate correctly. In mine it was squint so whenever the trem was used it would pop back and forth rather than pivot. That made the same knocking sound and tuning issues. It should look like that pictire. There'll be a little movement when you restring. I'd set the tension screw about half way, it should be fine then.

If it still clicks try lubing where it pivots as a last resort.

The issue was made worse on mine as the plate that the strings go through was pushed down into the body too. It should stick up enough that the ends of the string have plenty of clearance. If it's pushed in the pivot plate doesn't get enough contact with the moving part and you get click click click. So check that too. It'll be one or the other.

I would get some white hats and rub the "duncan designed" off the pickups. I was never a fan of CAR but that one looks classy! congrats!

Yeah the CAR on these has a coppery tinge to it. It's a lot cooler looking than the "real" CAR.

Yeah that's what it is about it. I like that aged coppery nitro CAR, this looks like it's about to start changing/already has but my brain knows modern poly won't age the same way. If they gave it a "vintage tint" from the factory smart move on squier because it looks great

So the problem was that the trem spring was upside down and was popping in and out. easy fic.
Now I need to fix this awful fret buzz, but I got that under control I think.

the buzz took me a minute to get rid of that's all playing with the bridge. tape the bridge posts, raise every saddle as high as it can go and I should be fixed. you don't have to go all j mascis, but it can't be like DAT IBANEZ action either.
