I can bug my neighbors worse with my Vibro Champ XD (5 watt, 8" speaker combo) than I can with my Marshalls (100-watt head, closed-back 4x12) because the Marshalls make a low rumbly noise somewhere in the distance whereas the Fender makes for a more shrill "hey fellas check it out: Pipeline" sort of vibe bleeding through the walls on all 4 sides of the combo... so I'm inclined to say the next-door audibility of your "bedroom volume" depends more on the type of cabinet/reflex/directional sound and the voicing of the amp than the wattage or speaker size itself. If you're playing at home you're probably aiming for the same maximum decibel level with each, but a smaller amp will not produce as wide a frequency range and you tend to push it's snottier qualities a bit harder. Similarly, a bigger amp with bigger speakers can be played at a lower decibel level while giving a more satisfying and full sound.
Also it's a hardwood floor and the Marshall is on plastic casters while the Fender is on those little metal discs. A lot of people remove speaker cabinet casters just for the in-room/onstage difference.

A few notes, I can't seem to figure out how to get the fx loop on the triad to work, this is a very weird pedal with little documentation available. I also forgot how loud the deluxe 85 is, ringing ears are great.

Broadly its the JTM-1 that they did for their annivesary year, but with different cosmetics and a 1x10 cab. They were quite expensive when they first came out, but I managed to get a decent chunk of money knocked off so it was still spendy, but justifiable.singlepickup24 wrote:Yeah, just chiming in to say I love the looks of that amp too... Research time!
I use it a lot, with the lower setting it gets down to bedroom volumes while still running the power valves pretty hard, but the full 1 watt is a lot louder than you would imagine, it would keep up with a drummer that wasn't playing really hard.

the cats i share a wall with are pretty cool about it, we've a deal about noise, as in we talk to each other instead of calling the landlord and getting a $50 fine
usually I play an old `58 Fonovox 1st gen solidstate, only 5amp out of it, but i loaned it to a buddy to use while he finishes workign on an album, gets hella gnar tones out of it with his baritone.

aside; setup for guiar/bass is the same due to switching duties when playing live, only need to swap the instrument and pedal, aka plug in a different chord, use channel 1 for guitar, 2 for bass.
