GFS vintage splits

Post by Rhysyrhys »

Anyone out there had a crack on these?

I'm just about settled now to start off the Jazzmaster that I bought off Hurb. I was hoping that I could get some testimonial about these guys if anyone has had experience with 'em. I listened to the gear demo vid and really liked the driven tone but was wondering a bit about the clean as there isn't a recording of them cleaned up.

Basically it's a toss up between these and the Dream 90/180s at the moment.

They're probably pretty good .. They're certainly cheap enough to give a go and see for yourself ..

I can vouch for their Retrotron Liverpool Hots and their Dream 180s . The Liverpool sounded nothing like a Filtertron but they did have their own cool sound and the Dream 180s sounded similar to the Liverpools but not as bright .. You'll hear mixed reviews on GFS but for the money I think they are damn good .

I have the artec versions in a Strat. Sound alright clean, better with some drive. The GFS may be wound differently.

they look the part but are essentially a normal humbucker, not constructed at all like a traditional wrhb (if that matters to you)

This post has been bothering me as well because the correct word to start that sentence should be "Neither"
