Weirdest looking bass I've ever seen.

Oh, right. I've never been that up on Gibsons if I'm honest.

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

Anyway, what's the story on the Strat Rob? Thought you were after a bass...

well, i went into derby today with the intention of getting a bass. i have a good friend that works at one of the main guitar shops there. we went to college/uni together and are kinda on a similar mindset when it comes to guitars.

so start trying a few basses, mainly the squire VM jazz basses and the long scale jaguar. kinda settled on a long scale jag, but wanted the CAR one so was ordering that, they matched the online prices i'd seen. also wanted to try out some delay pedals, mainly the carl martin red repeat.

so i'm plugged into marshall half stack that was actually quite nice to play through. my mate grabs this strat down to try the pedal with. well that was it, spent a good half an hour playing it and just couldn't put it down. the neck is perfect, not too fat not too thin. big frets, low output single coils. perfect weight and just feels like butter to play.
so i asked him what was the best price he could do. the thing that sealed the deal was that the guitar was built on the 23rd of April, which was kay's birthday. so took it as a sign and brought it. my friend also gave me the rep repeat for nothing as part of the deal.

it's a 2012 custom shop 1960 relic stratocaster complete with case and all case candy. and it's called kay :)

Well damn. That is a mighty fine strat... but I expect to see a bass in the arsenal before the year is out, young man!

Lovely Strat, and the Kay connection makes it really special.

You are killing it right now. Still thinking about the LP custom as well?

Thanks guys :)
I took it to practice last night to put it through it's paces. It's a perfect match to the Hughes and kettner. Felt the need to bust out some Hendrix or gilmour. Proper hairs on the back of the neck good. The band prefer the strat to my 339, but fuck them both are staying forever. It's currently got 10's on it which feel a little too skinny for me, but eaiser on the hand. Hoping sticking 11's on it won't fuck the action much because it's pefect.

Official done spending now ;) well maybe that bass after all ;)
