Burgundy Mist does look great on a Mustang. It's a cool color that you don't see very often.

I guess it's the one between the pink and the fiesta red, both at the top right and bottom middle/left.

Also, detailed pics here: Yamano
Like I said above, love all these colors with the pearloid pickguards. My very first "real" electric (and first Fender) was a 1965 CAR Mustang. Sold it and a lot of other good gear to raise $$ to finish college. Was the right decision but wish I had that stuff now!! Speaking of CAR on a Mustang, I'm not sure there is one in that pic, unless it's beside the Fiesta red one. If so, then it would appear there is no Dakota Red Mustang. Not sure which, but one of those reds appears to be missing.

I would assume the CAR was re-painted, they didn't use that finish on Mustangs until the late 1960s. 1965 is also slab body, so if it wasn't, it wasn't 1965.

The NAMM 'stang is Dakota Red.

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

Well..........that was a long time ago, and perhaps I'm misremembering. I was almost certain it was a metallic finish (i.e., CAR) but probably it wasn't. The guitar was purchased brand new - I still remember when the music shop received it from Fender and I was there when they opened the box - what an exciting day!

Anyway, it must have been Dakota if that's what was offered then - seems like the other color options at the time were blue (Daphne) and white (Olympic, I assume).

Sorry to get off track - I've never seen BMM on a Mustang, but it always looks better on every guitar I've actually seen than it does in photos.
