NGD - Alanis Morisette sig. Squier VI

Post by benecol »

Good evening shortscale. As has been eluded to elsewhere on the site, I sold my SG Classic, paid some money towards our broken shower, and bought some new kit with the change. Foremost amongst this was a Squier Bass VI, which arrived this morning.

Image

IT'S AMAZING.

There's so much guitar for the money, I've played stuff for three times the price (it was £240 from Thomann) that can't hold a candle to it. The neck's lovely, much more manageable than I was expecting, and a nice carve to it. Pickups sound brilliant to my ears, levels are a bit all over the place, but that can be tweaked. Amazing with fuzz. It's light, too, and not too mahoosive on (comedy fact - it's still not as physically big a guitar as the Firebird).

The bridge, however, is fucking gash. Various SS bods had given me the heads-up about this (cheers Stewart and NickD), so I bought a Staytrem too (along with one of their trems and collet). I'm waiting on a AVRI tailpiece to come in from the US, but if I'd have known how good the standard one was, I might not have bothered - very good. E-E sounds better than it did on my old Danos, but I've got some Circle K strings incoming too to rig it up as an A-A baritone.

There is, however, a slight fly in the ointment...

Anyhow: everyone should buy one.

You'll get £25 > £40 off, and seeing as you are of the same mind as me about pre dinged it's win win... Looks very nice, I like.

PS: How's it an AM sig?

I always ask myself is this irony or "rain on your wedding day" irony.

She fucked up a whole part of the English language with that song.

Glad you're so pleased! I agree; stick with the dinged VI that plays well and take the discount.

My former bandmate had one and it was equally terrific. I'm going to get one at some point to do teh Robert Smithz.

Also, I think it was smart to go with StayTrem... Really the best solution for most any Squier offset.

Lovely biscuits.

Mine's currently languishing at a friends house who was gonna use it for amazing things. Think I'll have it back and do some amazing things myself.

Glad to hear you made the acquisition! Certainly one of the best values out there at the moment.

I'm loving the looks of things from over here, butt ding and all.

Not much actual irony in that song.

If you've got one that plays well then I'd keep it, the ding won't matter a few years down the line, the playability will, and as I said, the QC on these isn't great.

I might get one. Probably a Sunburst one.

Will make me look pixie sized though.

I should probably get one as it'll look like a standard guitar does on a normal sized person...

Aye, that's about the size (!) of it with me.

Also: 60eur discount! Huzzah! Best £190 I've ever spent.

These are neat but I don't see myself ever using one. So it's the type of thing I wish a friend had(Boat Theory), but all my friends who play guitar are into acoustics...

Same.

Looks great Tim, shame about the ding but I think it made it an even better deal with the discount.

I love it. You've got all the right upgrades coming, and the ding don't mean shit.
