Fender Sonoran acoustics?

Anyone got an opinion on these? There's a red one available locally at a reasonable price and I'm very tempted.

I had one. I bought it on impulse. It was OK but I ended up selling it. They look fab but for the money you'd be better off snagging a good Yamaha. The Sonoran is average.

hate fender acoustics but tbh owning a Martin makes me think all other acoustics are trash

You have a Martin D-28 though, that's like the archetype acoustic(dreadnought) player's guitar.

2nd Fender akostiks are lame. Taylor and Martin are it. even expensive gibsons i do not like. you get with you pay for. real wood vs cardboard real wood.

Not my buddy's Taylor, but didn't cost me $3000.00 either. I prefer the tuners all on one side and Fender gives me that.

I've got in blue. I like it. Yes it's not as nice as a Martinor a Larrivee but it is well made, sounds fine, looks killer. For the money I think it is good value.

Yamaha is a great budget acoustic option, even better if you get it second hand. I have a Yamaha FG730S and its very well made and sounds great.

Definitely. Fender acoustics tend to sound very boxy and just not as "musical". I think I got mine secondhand for about Â£100 and it still wasn't worth it.

Since we're discussing acoustics--are certain brands known for certain tonal characteristics? I've seen Taylors described as "bright" and Martins as "dark". Is this is a bunch of bulsh or is there something to it?

yes and no.

woods certainly have different characteristics, as do strings. My theory is that "common knowledge" might stem from the way the guitars are set up from the factory and people comparing them in shops. I'm sure the right strings would make a taylor sound darker and vice versa.
