Just got in from work, unboxed it and made sure it's in one piece... T'is a thing of beauty. Wee man's in bed so will only get to play it through Amp Farm and headphones tonight, to make sure it all works...
Shall post my findings, once I give it a blast through me amp.

Right first impressions... LOVE IT! looks gorgeous, hangs well on the strap no neck dive, had a brief shot through the VC15 sounds great... And has coil splits on both pickups, which Gibson didn't mention anywhere on their site (very pleased as this is a mod I usually do on teh humbuckers). Will need to get used to the way the neck seems to protrude further out from the body than my other guitars.

Had a right good blast on the SG today... This machine rocks, totally different but equally as comfortable in my hands as my Tele... The beige pickup rings will have to go though.
Now for a bit of History:
Back in the day (1991) when I was still at school one of the guys in my music class had a black SG standard (while I was strangling an Avon les Paul copy) I thought it and Ritchie Edwards' telecaster were the coolest guitars ever, it was a Gibson looked like the bat sign... Etc. Well it would appear my tastes haven't changed much, don't know why it's taken me so long to get one.

Nice one
I think I'd get rid of the cream bits on it as well. Nice bonus on the coil tap.
It's funny how old stuff sticks with you. I always remember older teenagers with Jackson's whilst I had a Westone and later a Gordon Smith. I still like that Superstrat style with the pointy headstock to this day, reversed even better.

In my first year at uni I bought myself a butterscotch Squier Tele, which I thought was ace - my first decent guitar. But then I stupidly swapped it for an Epiphone SG, bolt on neck version that was awful. But nearly 20 years later i've just picked up a butterscotch blonde Squier CV Tele, and it's ace.
