With all the donations we got from friends here and and and other forums facebook and IRL we were able to raise the mony to pay Max's doctor bills so now I don't have to sell my guitar. It was on the wall at my friends store and luckily no one bought it so I brought it back home today
Thanks everyone! I got the idea to start Max's website right here in the SS pub.Everyone here has been so kind and generous. People on the MLP forum helped alot too but I did get some push-back on at least one other forum where a member suggested I should sell my guitar before starting a gofundme page. One of my best friends and neighbors felt the same way too and this has caused something of a rift between us and she wasn't the only one of my friends to get upset when I sent them a link to Max's gofundme page and asked for a donation. Still other people were super-cool including people I barely know and even complete strangers. I know people got annoyed with me but I had run the campaign like one of those PBS telethons if I was going to get anywhere near to meeting the goal and now that we have received $2835 of our $3000 goal it is even harder to get to the finish but I am sure we will get there.
And goddamn...doesn't that geetar look great! Everyone who played it at the store asked me if if was chambered or weight relieved because it feels so light for a Les Paul. It only weighs 8.2 lbs on my bathroom scale and what a sound,It is as close to a real 1959 Les Paul as I will ever get.
However, sorry to hear about the rift between you and your friend. That's really a shame. Knowing your entire guitar backstory, I think your gofundme page was completely reasonable.
Really awesome man, I'm glad you didn't have to sell it off. I know you love that thing, I would too. Props to all the shortscalers, mylespaulers and other friends of westy who came through.
