Boss SY-300 Guitar Synth

Post by gusman2x »

I am buying the absolute shit out of this!

Not the best flavour of demo perhaps, but it looks like this is going to be what I've always wanted. Honest!

Right. Why can't we just have the pitch recognition and midi-out functions in a normal-sized Boss pedal? People already have synths with good-sounding patches. This thing = £500, so it can do one.

I used to have a GK-3 -> Roland GI-20 -> Microkorg (the later a Roland XV2020) setup. Which, whilst fun, was pretty cumbersome to cart around. So I did want the new thing to be good. I think if I were to do something like this now it'd have to be the Fishman Triple Play with a soft synth. Separate pickups are a pain (and it ties you to one guitar), but it still seems the only solution.

There is that monophonic Sonuus G2M, it's smaller than a Boss pedal I think.

The video in thread sounds so '80s to me...

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

As I read this, the psycho theme went on the stereo in the other room, I shit you not.

So yeah. I've never been much into Guitar/synth hybrids because they always sound like over produced J-pop synths or something.
