Guitar music or song based music?

Hi people,

I wonder, when it comes to your own music or sorting out guitar parts from your favourite guitarists, do you prefer real guitar music or songbased music with the guitar palying an comping role compared with asolo now and then?
I prefer songbased music. But I must say that it is a pain sorting out complete guitar scores cause the guitar is often hiddden in the miix.

It's a difficult distinction. As a listener I enjoy both for different reasons. As a songwriter I struggle to escape the guitar based style.

I find I can tolerate screamo if there's an interesting guitar part.
