Looks like a Squier Telecaster custom II.

But with the pickguard and knobs (pickup covers too maybe?) swapped.

I'm with Addam, it's likely a Squier Tele Custom II cosmetically modified by a previous owner. Someone has changed the Squier part of the decal to a Fender one and changed the pickguard, pickup covers and/or pickups altogether, and the knobs. Many Squiers have been made in Indonesia (and I know they've been made by Cort factories in other countries before).

No Fender Tele Custom neck has ever been like that, it has everything in common with the Squier one but no vintage pegs, bullet truss or 21 fret count (and it's the wrong style Fender logo for the Custom, the "spaghetti" style when the Custom was a 70s guitar).

That's definitely a Squier 'cause it says "designed and backed by Fender" on the back. If someone's saying its a Fender and trying to charge a lot of money for it then they're either trying to shaft you or have been shafted themselves and still don't realize it.

i knew something was up, its someone i don't know but thats what they were offering for my MIJ 69 mustang R.I...along with some cash, but if this is a squier then together with the cash that was offered and the tele it will get him the neck of mine

At MOST you're looking at a $200 guitar there. My guess is they just changed the cosmetics, because it doesn't look like they changed any of the hardware, and I don't remember those pickups being that bad for what they are. Also anyone superficial enough to give it a Fender headstock is probably more concerned with the looks than the sound.

Give the seller the benefit of the doubt, let him know he has a Squier that's been modified in the past. If he's honest it'll at least prevent him from accidentally conning someone else.

Told the dude what i reckon and he wont have a bar of it, convinced its a fender with $500(australian) trade value...told him i could get a mexican tele for 500 and his is worth 300 tops. His argument was when u play it feels like a top of the range tele and therefore my evaluation of 300 was based on details that dont really mean alot like model, where and who its made by and materials etc...😕

at this point in the conversation i wished him good luck with his future endevours and left it at that...

Hahaha what an asshole. Reminds me of another guy we had around here for a while named Paul1k who thought was OK to pass off Squier Jags as Fenders because he blocked and bound the necks.

Glad we were able to help save you $400 in value from a shitty deal.

Thank god you didn't buy this. Why would a Fender say "backed by Fender" ?? That seller was either an idiot or a bonafide scam artist.

A patronizing git for sure... you never know when it comes to forgeries that have possibly passed through multiple owners, but yeah, this guy seems to be ground zero.

Let's all go to shops and find the nicer-playing Squiers so we can sell them at more honest MIJ prices... we could have a Fortress of Lolitude paid off in no time.

This made me think of him! Just needs blocks and binding and a crooked cap.
