Hi everyone,
I just wanted to ask for your help. I'm currently working on the last year of my degree and I have to setup a business. I'm interested in starting an electronic repair and modifications business here in the UK. I want to improve other manufactures signal processors, as well as offering circuit bent devices to create quirky musical instruments. I'm also designing a range of effects (not clones) for year two of operation.
I have constructed an online survey to form part of my market research and I'm looking for people to undertake a twenty question survey. The form does not require any personal information, I'm just trying to establish buying habits and potential interest in a new UK company offering a repair and modification service. I would like to thank anyone willing to help in advance!
Here's the link to the survey:

Thanks for taking it. I really appreciate it! At the moment, I'm checking to see if there's a market for a repair and modification company and the main competitors (with regards to effects pedals), when I get the custom effects side of the business up and running in year two. I'll post my designs on here in a few months time, with some video demos.Bacchus wrote:Done'd!
To be honest, I'm not sure how much money there would be in modifications, with the preponderance of builders on the internet who will custom build anything you want. Like, if I had a pedal, say a boss overdrive pedal, and I wished to have it true bypass and a bit bassier, I think I would sooner sell it and use that money to spec one from a custom builder.
Might just be me, though, I can appreciate that some people would rather hold on to their own/older pedals.
Excited to see what your own designs are, though.

Currently doing it. I would point out that one thing I generally do is check the pedal out in a bricks-and-mortar shop (Anderton's, Guitar Village, Dawson's). This is not one of the options re the decision-making process in your questionnaire.
Your list of manufacturers doesn't include a number of manufacturers, and perhaps most obviously missing is Behringer. Though "cheap", an awful lot of people find them very cost-effective. I used the Behringer rotary speaker effect pedal until I blew it up.
