Howdy All!
Thought i'd post this up as i'm chuffed with the results...
Heard my 16 year old nephew wanted to play guitar, so i gave him an old electro-acoustic i had knocking around
...after a few months, "Uncle, i wanna learn Bass Instead"Strewth! typical eh!...He was dedicated enough to take lessons at school
so i thought i'd get him his first bass as a surprise for his next birthday...
Ebay came up trumps with a P-Bass copy with little practice amp for £60...Splendid i thought...
"Yeh i'm really liking BLACK BASS'S UNCLE!"...damnit! i was half way there with a sunburst
so i took the choice of re-finishing in Satin Black, with a custom pickguard and logo...
Here's the process shooting it with rattle cans, and final cutting/buffing using a cutting compound on an
ebayspecial polishing mop kit...
Christ!, there's a LOT OF HOURS and finger-skin gone into this..but the finish was worth it...
I think if i'd have had a finer cutting compound i could've gotten the last minor swirls out, but i'm chuffed anyway!
Surprisingly the pickups dont sound too bad, so itll stop with those for now..
Cheers All!

Thanks again!
I'm happy to report that the bass was an overwhelming success with the Neph! The only problem was he got a PS4 at the same time Hope he sticks at it tho! The pickups sound surprisingly good for cheapies...I sorted him a Peavey TKO 80W combo as well..£30 and loud as all hell!...took a little bit of fettling to clean and maintain the pots and jacks, but worth it! No crackles or pops now! He wants to be in my band now!
